National Smoke Alarm Update – July 2022

All,

We are pleased to report that the supply of standard smoke and hearing impaired alarms has now improved significantly from all suppliers on the Framework. Due to this and with immediate effect there is no need to complete the smoke alarm data portal and it will be turned off.  The centralised co-ordination/allocation of all alarms via WMFS will cease and the Suppliers will work with Fire Services directly to arrange deliveries and accept new orders.

FireAngel update

Regular supplies of the WST-630T hearing impaired alarms have now been reinstated and by w/c 1st August all back orders will have been delivered along with most of the orders placed in August.

AICO update

Aico were experiencing a small backlog with Hearing Impaired kits (pads & strobes units) for three FRS’s and have been turning away new enquiries whilst these were outstanding.   Aico are still working on a fix to deal with a specific component shortage that will affect ongoing supply once the backlog is cleared.

Fireblitz update

Fireblitz (Firehawk) are continuing to maintain the supply of both standard and hearing impaired alarms to their FRS customers as required.

Bellman update

Bellman have small stocks of hearing impaired alarms and can obtain more from their parent company in Sweden within 3 days.

All new order and delivery queries should now be raised directly with the relevant supplier.

I will continue to remain in contact with all of the Framework suppliers on a regular basis to monitor their performance and ongoing supplies and will keep you informed of any further issues should they arise.  I would like to thank you all for your continued support which has enabled me to ensure that all Fire & Rescue Services have maintained a stock of smoke alarms, albeit a minimal amount at times, during the recent supply chain challenges.

Kind regards

Jacky Perkins
